Springfield City AM – Final

Luke Wells held off defending champion Zack Fowler with a 74 in the last round for a 6 under par 282.  Zack shot a 73 today and finished with a 3 under par 285.  Jeff Hall was making a run at Wells but his putter let him down on the finishing holes and left him with a 3rd place finish at 186.

The Seniors was won by Alan Collins with a four round total of 302.  Dan Schuler, Norm Knowlton and Keving Kite were all just one shot behind Collins.

Luke Wells also claimed the Junior title while Bryce Baumgardner and Beau Blase finished 2nd and 3rd in the junior race.

The ladies was won by Laaci Miller.  This is her first title as a “new mom”!  Laaci shot a 34 on the front nine this morning and ended with 75 for today’s round.  Kathy Lee was the Ladies Senior Champion with a score of 173.  Anne Holtz, 174 and Donna Warfield, 180, are the runner-ups in the overall and senior division.

The golf course, despite the rain, was in great shape.  The greens, with a stimpmeter reading of 11+, prove to be a tough test for the golfers over the last two weekends.  A common comment we heard was how perfect the greens were rolling.

Schuler’s Bakery was a great sponsor for this year’s event.  Chris Dewitt and his staff did an amazing job.  We had lunch Saturday after the first round as well as another great lunch on Sunday after the final round.  Oh, and did I mention that we had donuts every day of the tournament!!!  I am sure everyone noticed the nice prize list and the wonderful trophy’s.  The certainly helped to make this year’s event a memorable one.

Also a special thanks to Ron Baker and his staff for keeping the course ingreat conditions.  Your efforts have been noticed by many!  I would also like to thank Kurt Heintz and Pat Delaney for all their efforts in making this years City AM a first class event.  Thanks you guys!

Springfield City AM – 3rd Round and Sunday Tee Times

No one broke par today but Zack Fowler and Jeff Thurman both shot 72 on the difficult North Course for low round of the day.

Luke Wells still finds himself in first place after shooting a 75 for a 211 54 hole total.  In second place is last year’s champion, Zack Fowler at 212.  Jeff hall carded a fine round of 73 putting him in third place at 213.  And Matt Williams, after a 3rd round of 77, is in fourth place with a total of 214.

Norm Knowlton and Alan Collins are tied for the lead seeking the Senior crown.  Both have a total of 224.  One back is Kevin Kite in third place.

Luke Wells also leads the junior division.  Bryce Baumgardner made a good move into second place with a 73 today.

We look forward to an exciting finish in tomorrow’s final round.

City AM update

Due to the amount of rain we received this week, we will not be able to play the South Golf Course on Saturday.  The City AM participants who were scheduled to play the South Course on Saturday will be starting at their normal time but will start on hole #10.

Carts will be able to cross at 90 degrees on the North Course except for holes 13 – 16 which will be cart path only.  We appreciate your cooperation in helping to minimize cart damage to our beautiful course.

The South Course will be available to play on Saturday but will be walking only!

Heidelberg Match Play Championship

Always a great event, the Heidelberg Match Play Championship will take place on         August 5, 6, 12 & 13.  After the qualifying round, players will be put into flights of 16.  The number of flights will be determined by the number of entries.  Depending on the number that enter, some may not qualify for Match Play.  It is our goal to qualify as many folks as possible for match play.

New this year will be a senior, gold tee, flight.  You  must be 65 or older to play in this division.  Our other senior flight will play the white tees and is for those age 50 and over.  Anyone, regardless of age may enter into the open division, blue tees.  A senior who is 65 and over may select to play in the 50 and over division but will also have to play from the white tees.

The schedule of events will be as follows:

Saturday, August 5 – Qualifying round                                   Sunday, August 6 – Match Play, Round 1

Saturday, August 12 – Rounds 2 & 3                                       Sunday, August 13 – Finals and Consolation

The entry deadline is Wednesday, August 2.  Tee times will be available on Thursday afternoon, August 3.  All tournament information and results will be posted to our website, www.golfreidpark.com and a link will be provided on our facebook page.

Springfield City AM – Round 2 Results

Luke Wells followed up his round of 68 on Saturday with another 68 on Sunday for a total of 8 under par 136.  Matt Williams followed up his 68 on Saturday with a 69 on Sunday.  Jeff hall was the only other sub 70 round on Sunday with a 69 giving him a total of 140.  Also at 140 is past champion Zack Fowler.

The final two rounds for the Championships will be played next weekend and some familiar names are lurking such as Andy Bonar and Kyle Sine.  Norm Knowlton is leading the fight for the senior crown with a score of 148 and is followed closely by Alan Collins, Kevin Kite and Dan Schuler.

The tournament will be flighted for next weekend with the first three flights competing on the North Course and the other flights will play the South Course.  It will be an exciting event.  Stay tuned to our website, www.golfreidpark.com and our facebook page for additional news on this event.

Springfield City AM – Round 1 Results

MensCityAm2017 Round 1

Luke Wells and Matt Williams led the field in the first round of the Springfield City AM presented by Schuler’s Bakery.  It was a great day for golf and the golf course was in great shape.  The greens were running about 12 on the stimpmeter.  While golfers found the greens in great shape, they had to be careful to avoid long come back putts.

In addition to being tied for the lead, Luke Wells is also leading the Junior Division.         Rick Brooks and Dan Schuler are leading the Senior Division with rounds of 75.

Flights will be determined after tomorrows second round on the South Course.  Flights will be determined by the two day total score.  Flights will be made up of 12 players and ties.

Next weekend will also host the Ladies Championships.  Deadline for the ladies to enter is Wednesday evening.
